Workshop: Mother’s Day Hand Embroidery Ages 16+.

Location: MNO Timmins Boardroom, 347 Spruce Street South, Timmins
Description: Participants will learn the basics of hand embroidery creating a floral design. In this beginner-friendly workshop where you’ll learn basic stitches and colour theory to create beautiful projects. This workshop will be led by Krista Dekker, Artist & Owner at Homebody Handmade. Because these techniques take time, we ask that you plan on attending for the duration (1-4pm). All materials and snacks will be provided.
Similar to beadwork, embroidery adorned garments, as well as personal and household articles across the territories where the Métis lived and travelled. The practice of embroidery endures today, although silk materials have been substituted by cotton and rayon floss, or thicker wool and synthetic yarns.
